Crappy Cinema Club | Howard the Duck
Crappy Cinema Club.
Couches, out. Tables, set. Snacks, ready. Unapologetically awful movies are streaming for Crappy Cinema Club.
Settle into a cozy seat with your snacks and maybe a mindless craft to keep your ADHD fingers busy.
This isn't a traditional movie theater—it's more Mystery Science Theater 3000. Obnoxious out-loud commentary? Encouraged. Laughing at the absurdity? Expected. Groaning at the plot holes? Practically mandatory.
Carry-in dinners are welcome (just no outside drinks, please). You can also check out Richmond Street BBQ in our building if they're open before the movie.
They're gloriously bad.
You know the deal.
This public screening of Howard the Duck is presented with permission from SWANK. All rights reserved. Unauthorized duplication, distribution, or public performance is prohibited.
Want to help keep events like this going?
Your ticket gets you in, but any extra support helps us cover licensing, setup, and staff time—and lets us keep hosting cozy, weird, community-first events. Totally optional, always appreciated.

Sip & Story Social: a book fair
Join The Tardigrade's Bookshelf and Readers Leisure for our Sip & Story Social, a book fair designed for people who'd rather spend a Saturday evening browsing books than shouting over a TV at a sports bar. (If you're looking for the game, you know where to go, bruh.)
Explore a curated collection of local authors and bookish vendors representing a wide range of genres and interests. Discover your next favorite read, meet the people who create the stories, and connect with fellow readers in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Adult Storytime
Remember when someone read you a bedtime story? This is... not that.
Wear some fabulous pajamas, enjoy a nightcap, and settle in for an hour of hilariously inappropriate picture books read aloud by our favorite Queens, Ellah Maeaux and Mama J.
These are explicit and delightfully immature. Think innocent picture books with titles that make grown adults snort into their cocktails.

Heads up: We say 5:30–7 PM, but we don’t necessarily shut it down at 7. If folks are having a good time and we’ve got the staff, we’ll keep it rolling. If the lights are still on, come on in.
We’re also building a small collection of string instruments to keep at the bookbar. If you have a gently loved guitar, ukulele, violin, mandolin, etc. to donate, we’d love to give it a second life in the bookbar.

Singing Resistance
Singing Resistance is a community singing circle where people come together to build connection, resilience, and hope through music. You don't need to be a trained singer, just willing to lend your voice. The focus isn't on performance; it's on community, shared purpose, and the simple act of singing together. These gatherings are open to everyone and regularly meet in Tardigrade's event space. Come as you are, meet new people, and discover why they say joy is an act of resistance.

Experimenting with sound is a transformative experience. Creating a set-up to try it out is not far out of reach. This program aims to show you an affordable way to play with sound design.
We’ll learn to creatively combine secondhand music equipment and push it past its price point. Along the way, we’ll talk about acoustic physics, quantifying time, audio synthesis, and the workings of common music gear.
Music is just wiggly air used to decorate time! Let us show you how to make it wiggle.
